3rd Leadership Retreat Follow-up MeetingTuesday July 29 to Friday August 1, 2008 Travel and Accommodation
---------------------------------------------------------------- Due to the number of people participating, we advice that you reserve your place of stay well in advance. You are welcome to make reservations through us. 1) Hotels. Requests will be accepted until Tuesday July 29, 2008, subject to availability. A list of selected hotels in the area and their rates will soon be included in this section. Special rates will only apply if you book through us. You will also be responsible for your shuttle between hotel and the Mile 19 Community Centre. 2) Private Homes. Every family in Mile 19 has accepted to host at least one participant free of charge. Priority will be given to very important personalities (VIPs) and those coming from far away. The list of families and rooms that have been set aside will be included in this section soon. Similar negotiations are ongoing with neighboring villages to secure quality accommodation for participants on a first-come, first served basis. ------------------------------------------------------------------ As noted above, every family in Mile 19 is prepared to host at least one participant free of charge for the duration of the Meeting. These will mostly be single occupancy rooms although two or more people (i.e. family) can share. Most of the houses in Mile 19 are semi-permanent wood-plank constructions. The set aside rooms will vary in dimensions and will typically have a good bed and bed-net, reasonable storage space, and enclosed outdoor bathing area. A high standard of hygiene is promised throughout your stay and meeting. "Come live with us, experience our way of life and hospitality" the Mile 19 people say, through their Regent. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Confirmation of room reservations will be acknowledged as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding your reservation, or to make changes or cancellations, call (237) 7766-2395 or email mile19@eitdr.org. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Airport and Airline Information Cameroon's main international airport is in Douala, about two and a half hours drive from Mile 19. Several airlines call at the airport on a regular basis. A list of the carriers and their rates will be included in this section soon. For details, contact your local travel agent and ask how to get to Cameroon's Douala International Airport. -------------------------------------------------------------------- From Douala or anywhere in the national territory, you can get to Mile 19. The easiest route from Douala, especially in the rainy season, is through Mbanga, Loum, Tombel and then Mile 19. Another route is through Mutengene, Buea, Kumba and then Mile 19. There is a train service that connects Douala, Mbanga and Kumba, from where a taxi or car ride can take you to Mile 19. There is enough parking space and adequate security for your car and self in Mile 19. If you have any questions on how to get to Mile 19, or would like any special arrangements including airport pickup, please call (237) 7766-2395 or email mile19@eitdr.org.
